Sex Sting Leads to Termination of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Coach

Ryan Tyna, 42, of Hudson, was arrested last week in a prostitution sting in Willoughby

A Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy girls basketball coach is under investigation after being arrested in what police are calling a "prostitution sting" in Willoughby.

Willoughby police said Ryan Tyna, 42, of Hudson, was arrested last week after responding to an ad placed on a website commonly used by prostitutes. The ad offered adult services for a special rate of $100 for a half hour.

Eleven other men were arrested along with Tyna Thursday and Friday, according to the police department's news release.

The men thought they'd meet a 20-year-old woman at a motel, the news release said. Instead they were met by police.

The men have been charged with soliciting and possession of criminal tools, both misdemeanors. They are scheduled to appear in Willoughby Municipal Court on the charges on March 7.

Tyna is in his second year coaching at the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in Cuyahoga Falls. He also is a social studies teacher at North High School in Eastlake.

The private school fired Tyna last week after his arrest, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Other arrests are: Timothy D. Asberry, 53, of Willoughby Hills; Gill S. Gurinder, 31, of North Royalton; Bryan Hess, 51, of Cuyahoga Falls: Efren Romero, 41, of Painesville; Nagi J. Haddad, 55, of Rocky River; Richard M. Salajcik, 47, of Eastlake; Raymond T. Kern, 50, of Mentor; Bert M. Brown, 55, of Beachwood; Ramone A. Davis, 26, of Cleveland; Johannes Reinhard, 64, of Palm Beach; and Eugene Preston, 38, of Beachwood.

This is so silly - So you arrest and humilate the guy because he wanted to see a prostitute? The morality police are at it again. Why is this news worthy?

This is why sex crimes are so high in this country, supress people sexually. If a woman wants to have sex for money, it's her body. Legalize it and have rules to ensure safe sex. You will never stop prositituion, it's the oldest profession.

Agreed. Putting these people's face all over the news like they are monsters is totally wrong. Prostitution which is consensual among two adults should NOT be a crime...county government should regulate it & take steps to protect parties to the practice. Doing so will reduce rapes and other sexual crimes.

I agree with you wmfr ... very sad that these men are persecuted because of this. This is barely a crime anymore... at least this is a business agreement between two consentual adults.

So, technically, the police committed fraud. Right? Offering one thing and not coming through with it...

Will they be arrested for that?

Im sure their wives appreciate the heads up.... This type of behavior hurts families and neighborhoods all across the country let alone these prostitutes are usually unhealthy drug addicts that are hurt as young women and pimped around online and kept on drugs so that the men and or women that control them can keep a leash on them... this is absolutely a crime and should be treated as such... andy my kids goto private school and i personally would not want their coach to be employed with a sexual crime violent or not....
