Retro Dog Unveils Food Challenge not for the Faint of Stomach

Will you be the first to polish off nine hot dogs, French fries, onion rings, a milkshake smothered sundae and root beer in 60 minutes? If yes, it's time to take "The Challenge."

The has a challenge that isn’t for the faint of stomach. Seriously.

“The Challenge” – concocted by co-owner Sean Berrodin – consists of eating the restaurant’s nine signature hot dogs, a carton each of onion rings and French fries, a milkshake smothered sundae and a frosty mug of root beer.

If every gulp and bite makes its way down in less than 60 minutes, the palette-happy participant gets the array of food for free and wins a Retro Dog t-shirt.

Plus, for bragging rights, their name will be added to wall of fame inside the restaurant.

“I created the idea with ‘Man v. Food’ in mind,” said Berrodin. “The employees – many of which are teenagers from the community – thought it was great and just recently we had our first challenger.”

Retro Dog employee Anthony Villalba took a stab at hot dog glory and was able to cram down three hot dogs, every fry, the Retro Bomb root beer and all but one onion ring in an hour.

According to Berrodin, Villalba joked and said it was time to tap out “when his hands started to go numb.”

He certainly made a dent, but his name will not be added to the empty wall. Do you think you could be the first person to take on the challenge and win?
