What do you want to read this summer?
Patch asked a few of the librarians from the Cuyahoga Falls Library to share their picks for summertime reads. Here's this week's recommended book, and feel free to suggest your own recommendations in the comments below.
Author: Mary Higgins Clark
Recommended by: Joyce Bigam, Children's Services Coordinator
What it's About: In her 30th suspense novel, Higgins Clark tells the story of Alexandra “Zan” Moreland, a divorced Manhattan-based interior designer whose son Matthew was kidnapped in Central Park two years ago. On Matthew's fifth birthday, Zan is under suspicion of kidnapping her son and then discovers someone has stolen her identity and is using her credit cards. Zan believes her son is still alive and tries to find the person who seeks to destroy her life.

Several people have suggested I read "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett, so it's high on my summer reading list. I'm currently reading and enjoying "The Bird Sisters" by Rebecca Rasmussen. "Eli the Good" by Silas House is another book I can't wait to read this summer.
So many terrific books, so little time!

Jenny I've heard lots of great things about "The Help" and want to put it on my (ever expanding) list too. The movie will be out in August. I find it especially interesting that the protagonist is a writer. ;)
I've also heard lots of good things about "The Bird Sisters" too. I'd like to know what you think of the Silas House book when you're finished with it.
And I couldn't agree more with "So many terrific books, so little time"!
Happy summer reading! :)

I just joined 20+ other bloggers in a challenge to finish David Foster Wallace's "Infinite Jest" by summer's end. It's a pretty hefty novel, so it may be a struggle to make it through, but I'm giving it a go!

Wow Kate, it's over 1000 pages! Reading it with over 20 bloggers sounds like fun! Good luck, I hope you enjoy it. I love books that make me turn pages and lose track of time, and then I don't think about how many pages I have left to go. ;) It would be great if it was one of those books.

I think Southern female writers make for great poolside reading. I'm on a Southern kick so far this summer. For light, fun reads, I recommend Mary Kay Andrews (The Fixer-Upper, Hissy Fit, Savannah Blues, Savannah Breeze and a few others). Her writing is intelligent and funny, lighthearted but not trashy. She has a new book out right now, The Summer Rental. I'm waiting for it to come in on reserve at the library.
