Police: Cuyahoga Falls Caretaker Stole Thousands From Elderly Man

Deborah Ramoz, 59, of Cuyahoga Falls, was arrested after allegedly stealing $75,000 from an 87-year-old Akron man.

Deborah Ramoz was charged with theft from the elderly -- a third-degree felony -- on Jan. 17 after allegedly stealing $75,000 from an 87-year-old Akron man.

Ramoz, 59, of Cuyahoga Falls, reportedly stole the money over a 1½-year period from the elderly man who incidentally died last month.

Adult Protective Services tipped the sheriff's department off in July of 2012, which ultimately led to her arrest last week, according to a press release.

The Summit County Sheriff's Department reported Ramoz used the money to purchase numerous gemstones from California.

A search warrant used to enter Ramoz’s East Broadway home led to the recovery of numerous containers of gemstones.

Ramoz was taken to Summit County Jail, but was freed on a $5,000 signature bond.
