LOOK: Running Black Tigers Recognized by City Council
Several young students stood in the local spotlight on Monday after qualifying for and running in the Youth National Cross Country Championship earlier this month.
The Cuyahoga Falls Youth Cross Country team, better known as the Running Black Tigers, stood up and were recognized at Monday's Cuyahoga Falls City Council meeting.
Head coach John Martell called each student up and put them in the local spotlight after 20 of the first to fifth graders qualified for and ran in the Youth National Cross Country Championship in Terra Haute, Ind. earlier this month.
According to its Facebook page, the team's missions is to:
- Help kids stay fit and healthy
- Make running fun
- Teach good technique
- Gradually increase distance and speed
- Make new friends
The Running Black Tigers' regular season runs from August to November.

The ages go to at least 13 years old and in 8th grade....at least 2 of the girls also race for Bolich Jr. High-and will most likely race as 9th graders at Falls High next fall. I think it was great that they got some recognition. Thank you for the nice article!!
