Heroin Bust Yields 2 Arrests in Cuyahoga Falls
Kevin M. Matheny and Joshua M. Swigart, both of Cuyahoga Falls, were arrested Tuesday on multiple drug-related charges.
At 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Cuyahoga Falls Police Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 306 Kathron Ave. and arrested Kevin M. Matheny and Joshua M. Swigart.
Police obtained the warrant after an investigation showed that Matheny was dealing heroin from the residence, according to Cuyahoga Falls Police Sgt. James Singleton.
Matheny, 23, and Swigart, 18, both of Cuyahoga Falls, were arrested after they happened to drive up while police were on scene, said Singleton.
Drugs were found in the vehicle the men arrived in, which led to Swigart's arrest.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force and Summit County Drug Unit assisted local police in the drug bust.
Matheny was charged with trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony; possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; possessing drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor; and drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
Swigart was charged with possession of drugs, possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.
The pair was booked into Cuyahoga Falls City Jail, and will be arraigned in Stow Municipal Court on Wednesday.

If only it was as simple as so many people want to believe. Drug addiction is a very serious disease which has become an epidemic in our society. When I was young, people smoked pot and very few did anything harder. Heroin has become the drug of choice among middle and upper class teens. No longer found only in big cities, it is now everywhere and an alarming number of young people are experimenting with it and getting hooked before they know what hit them. I don't have an answer, I wish I did.

Yes my brother has done a LOT of bad things and he is a druggie. But he is still HUMAN. There is no need to be so cruel. He is sick. He needs help. He is my brother and I love him. Yes I hate what he has done to himself and us but I love him. He wasn't thinking about anyone but himself when he did what he did...but none of you (that I know of) had to go through what me and my family have, so please just stop and think before you sit here and comment rude things. He is a PERSON with feelings and has a FAMILY with feelings. We all love you Kevin....but you NEED help. <3

Kevin this makes me very sad to hear it was just almost exactlyyy one year ago when Zach died from this evil drug and now this... It breaks my heart :'( its awful that it had to come to this but hopefully now you will get the help that you need and you will be okay. You will be in my thoughts <3

Excatly. Zachs memorial is in two days. Trina told me about this yesterday. Kevin Ive neveer known you to be so stupid! The kevin I used to know would hang out and skate all day around the neighbor hood. Now my brothers in Jail, Zachs dead and your heading down that path. What happened to you guys!!! GET SOME HELP PLEASE!!!!

Tori, may I start by saying I'm sorry your family is going through hard times, addiction is a horrible thing to witness or experience. Our community is one full of good people who are concerned about each other, so I don't think anyone meant to be cruel on purpose. If drug addiction has never touched your life it's hard to understand is all. I hope your brother gets the help he needs.
