Heat Index to Reach 108 Degrees Friday

Weather forecasts call for a heat index of 108 today, and a heat advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. tonight.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Summit County, as the heat index is expected to reach 108 degrees today.

The advisory is in effect from noon until 9 p.m. tonight.

If you plan to be outside, here's some tips to keep in mind:

  • Drink plenty of water. Try to limit how much alcohol you drink.
  • Stay out of the sun and in air-conditioning when possible.
  • Be vigilant and check on the young and the elderly, who are more susceptibly to heat illnesses.
