Girl in Critical Condition After Fall in Gorge Metro Park
She was found at 8 p.m. Saturday by Falls EMS/Fire crews after tumbling 20 to 30 feet down a Gorge Metro Park embankment near Glens Trail.
A girl is in “critical, but stable condition” at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital after falling 20 to 30 feet in Gorge Metro Park on Saturday, reports the Falls News Press.
After swimming with friends in the Cuyahoga River, the girl began hiking uphill near Glens Trail when she fell, according to Tim Hite, a spokesman for Summit County Metro Parks.
Fire crews found her at about 8 p.m. near the bottom of the gorge, complaining of head and neck pains.
The girl was one of four kids who were illegally swimming in the river, said Hite. “They had hiked down a Gorge Park embankment to swim and were headed back up when the accident occurred.”
According to the Summit County Metro Parks ranger report, she was first taken by Falls EMS to Akron’s Children’s Hospital before being transferred to University Hospitals in Cleveland.
