Falls Police Warn to Lock Your Doors After Rash of Car Break-Ins
The following was culled from Cuyahoga Falls police reports dated July 8-9. It does not indicate a conviction.
Due to a string of unlocked car thefts, Cuyahoga Falls police issued a message on its Facebook page warning residents to secure their rides at all times.
Here's some of the many incidents the department is referring to:
- A man at the 2600 block of 7th Street reported someone stole his GPS, valued at $200, from his unlocked car between Sunday night and Monday morning.
- Thieves entered an unlocked car Monday morning at the 500 block of Sackett Avenue and stole 40 CDs, an estimated value of $20 each. Approximately $.75 in change was also stolen, perhaps to feed the meter.
- Someone entered an unlocked car between Sunday night and Monday morning on the 2000 block of 9th Street. The items stolen had an estimated value of $50.
- A woman at the 1800 block of 7th Street reported someone entered her unlocked car and stole her first generation iPhone valued at $100.
- A woman at the 2300 block of Grant Avenue reported someone entered her unlocked car and took her GPS, valued at $100, between Friday night and Saturday morning.

This has been going on for some time now. Why can't we catch these morons? Start looking out for yourselves AND your neighbors! We don't want this crap in our neighborhoods!

Adam - I agree. This has been going on for sometime now and we need to try to be more aggressive as a community. I always encourage neighbors to communicate and even set up a block meeting to meet each other and get to know others on your street. Why can't the city look a little harder into this. Offer some time of reward for a conviction on stuff. I don't know what the answer is, but people work hard for what they have and the last thing we need is to deal with non sense like this.
Goes back to staffing our police at appropriate levels. C-Falls does not have enough law enforcement is the first problem. We need more full timers! The other thing is the cops need to do their jobs and PATROL when not on calls and not hang out talking on their cell phones in parking lots doing nothing on down time. We pay the salaries, they need to work. One thing I never liked about this administration and mayor is that he has cut our police for years now.
