Fake Veterinarian Found Guilty in Summit County Court

A Summit County judge found Brandi Tomko guilty after hearing testimony from Cuyahoga Falls and Akron residents whose pets were killed or maimed from Tomko's botched surgeries.

Brandi Tomko was found guilty Friday morning on identity fraud, forgery, theft and animal cruelty charges after posing as a veterinarian at an Akron animal hospital between 2010 and 2011, cleveland.com reports.

Summit County Court of Common Pleas Judge Paul Gallagher issued the verdict after Tomko, 36, of Akron, waived her right to a jury trial earlier this week.

The three-day trial included testimony from several former clients of C & D Animal Hospital that alleged Tomko had maimed or killed dogs and cats after performing botched surgeries on them.

She’ll be sentenced on the felony and misdemeanor charges March 15 at 10 a.m.

It's almost unbelievable what this wacko did to animals that were trusted to her care. How does someone get away with impersonating a vet? Crazy...put this one away for as long as the law allows.

Always check out your vet BEFORE taking your pet to any animal hospital. She needs to spen the rest of her life in prison.

They need to make a registry of vet techs and vets that you can look up online and find out if they have had any problems or issues in the past. These people tend to pick up and start over in other states. Unlike people- they don't have to be covered by liability insurance and most people don't know enough about vet medicine to sue them. Don't trust anyone. Make sure they are licensed and don't have any complaints against them. If they mention euthenasia before treating your pet- or if they give them medicine you know is not right for them- leave and don't return. Demand the same quality care you would for your human children.

This is awful that a human being would do this to poor animals! Make sure you know everything you can about the VET before you bring your animal there! I LOVE my Vet http://blvdvet.net/ and trust them 100 percent, they are so great with my little Yorkie!
