Fake Veterinarian Charged With Cruelty to Animals
Brandi Tomko was hit with a list of charges this week after allegedly treating and performing botched surgeries on animals with no prior veterinary experience.
As of Wednesday, Brandi Tomko remained in Summit County Jail after being charged with injuring animals, cruelty to animals, practicing without a license and drug-related offenses, reports Fox 8 News.
In 2011, Tomko posed as a veterinarian at the C&D Veterinary Hospital on Brittain Road.
Without any prior experience or veterinary certification, she allegedly attempted to treat animals, and in some cases, performed botched surgeries on them, according to court documents.
Holly Denavich discovered Tomko was a fraud last May when she took her Yorkie terrier mix to C&D for treatment.
Denavich described her interactions with Tomko as “sketchy” and her suspicions were confirmed when she arrived home and couldn’t find Tomko on the Ohio Veterinarians Board web site.
She returned to C&D, received a refund and reported Tomko to the board.
Tomko is being held in Summit County Jail.
