Update, Oct. 19:
The information in the database above has been updated and is now current through mid-October.
There have been 129 local donations to Obama and 40 to Romney.
Original post, Sept. 18:
Only five Cuyahoga Falls residents gave more than $1,000 to presidential candidates in this election cycle—and four of those residents gave their money to Mitt Romney.
Of the 110 donations given so far, 83 went to President Barack Obama's campaign and 27 went to Romney's.
However, Romney's donations totaled $12,750, while Obama's only added up tp $8,819.
Here's the Romney donations that made a difference:
- Mark Grdina, Vice President of the Great Lakes Construction Co., $2,500
- Michael Merle, President and CEO of Ray Fogg Building Methods Inc., $2,500
- Judith Merle, Homemaker, $2,500
- William Wendell, President of Universal Real Estate Solutions, Inc., $1,000
Patch has created this interactive database so you can see how much your neighbors are donating to the presidential campaign—and to which candidate they’re writing their checks. We’ve included communities across Ohio, so if you want to see what the campaign contributions in Akron, Kent or Stow look like, go right ahead.
The information in the database was downloaded from the Federal Election Commission’s website. The data is based on quarterly reports, and is current through July. The data will be updated in mid-October.

Why is it anyone's business who you're supporting or how much money you've given them?? Quit being a tattle tail society.

It's public record. Why not? Take your complaints to the FEC.

That's a fair question. My answer would be... it's public record, so technically, it's everyone's business.

You guys should do a story on voter fraud... Voting in precincts where you don't live seems to be a problem in Summit County!

Where are the people that donated to Obama?

Hi Betsy, scroll up to the top of the article. Choose Obama under "Candidate's Name" then choose Cuyahoga Falls under "Contributor's Hometown." Hit search and the list will appear.

I think she means- Why did you put Romney donors in the article, but not Obummer's. To be fair, you should be putting them in black and white as well.

Really, Wanda, it's become very tedious to see you write "Obummer" every time you mention the President. Show some respect...MittWit would want you to...

Click on the link below and get the first glimpse of a change in the thinking of the CBS News team....this is the most positive segment that CBS has ever had on an opponent of Barack Obama. It is short, but makes the point being missed by most of Romney's critics.

John,
Why do you have to go to a link to find the Obama donator, but you listed in this article all of the Romney donators?

I think it's very telling that much fewer, wealthier donors are the reason that Romney's total is so much greater. 83 donations to Obama, only 27 to Romney, yet a landslide in sum total. Hmmmm...supports the obvious assumption...

Good evening Nancy and Wanda, the body of the article is a sampling of observations regarding campaign contributions in Cuyahoga Falls. It wasn't intended to "out" the folks who donated as it's already public record. And since names/donations on both sides are readily available through the database, I'd argue the coverage is fair. Best regards, John

Forget about how much you gave. See how much you did! Good job Cuyahoga Falls getting out and supporting a candidate. We were impressed!
