Cuyahoga Falls Supports Domestic Violence Awareness Month
City officials have partnered with the Battered Women's Shelter of Summit & Medina Counties for the month of October to help combat the rampant crime.
The City of Cuyahoga Falls has partnered with the Battered Women's Shelter to support domestic violence awareness for the month of October.
According to Jennifer Syx, the city's deputy development director, the city has installed purple lights at the Falls River Square clock tower as purple is recognized as the international color of domestic violence.
"Right now, (the clock tower) is a place for people to gather, reflect and pray," said Syx.
Syx has been working with Battered Women's Shelter of Summit and Medina County volunteer Brian Del Bianco to organize the partnership and she says there's tentative plans "to hold a vigil or campaign event."
Residents are encouraged to shine purple lights from their homes or front porches to support the cause.
