Cuyahoga Falls May Lose out on Estate Tax Windfall

It appears a wealthy elderly woman who recently passed away may have actually lived in Silver Lake Village, not Cuyahoga Falls.

Silver Lake Village may actually be the lucky recipient of a lucrative estate tax windfall, not Cuyahoga Falls, the Falls News Press reports.

Village Solicitor Robert Heydorn told the Falls News, "Both the city and village are aware of the issue and each is now assessing their options."

Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don Robart agreed with Heydorn's statement.

When a wealthy woman in her 80s, who hasn't been identified, passed away in October, Cuyahoga Falls officials believed they were going to receive a $1.3 million estate tax windfall since records indicated she lived in the Falls at the time of her death.

However, it appears, but has not yet been confirmed, that the deceased woman had actually lived in Silver Lake.

Robart and his administration planned on giving two-thirds of the money to eligible full-time city employees and elected leaders. The disbursement called for each employee to receive a one-time salary supplement of $3,500. Cuyahoga Falls City Council members were set to receive $1,250.
