Child Rapist Sentenced to Life in Prison
Richard Frederick Jr., 25, of Streetsboro, was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to rape and gross sexual imposition charges.
Richard Frederick Jr. was sentenced Monday to life in prison for raping a five-year-old girl earlier this year.
Frederick, 25, of Streetsboro, pled guilty to rape, a first-degree felony; and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony, according to April Wiesner, chief spokeswoman of the Summit County Prosecutor's Office.
Frederick repeatedly raped the five-year-old child between January and May of this year, said Wiesner.
He was prosecuted by Sherri Bevan Walsh and sentenced by Judge Mary Margaret Rowlands in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas.
Frederick will be eligible for parole in 2037.
Frederick was arrested June 8 following an investigation conducted by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department.
He was residing and working in Cuyahoga Falls at the time of his arrest.

We need capital punishment for crimes like this against a child. Our society is full of damaged people who were abused as children. If you make the punishment so severe, people would think twice about hurting a child.
When a child is raped, the damage lasts a life time. Not only for the victim, but the victim's family.

The sad thing is up until this happened he was a nice kid. He came from a divorced family but grew up in a nice neighborhood and was not abused. I still can't understand what snapped in his head to make him do such a horrible thing. You can't always blame the parents, some people just go bad.
