PNC Bank Mistakes Disgruntled Customer for Robber

Cuyahoga Falls Police responded to the call on Saturday morning.

Better safe than sorry, as they say.

An apparent robbery at PNC Bank was nothing more than an irate customer airing his complaints, according to Cuyahoga Falls Police.

At 10:24 a.m. Saturday, officers got a call from a PNC security representative that a robbery was in progress.

When officers arrived to the bank, located at 2150 State Rd., they received contradictory information.

According to the police report, a bank teller had called security and complained that a 62-year-old male customer was "causing inconvenience and alarm to others in the bank by shouting...in a threatening manner."

Cuyahoga Falls Police Sgt. James Wray said bank security mistook the call for a robbery.

The man was detained and charged with disorderly conduct.

I agree that a certain level of decorum is required here, but I have also had issues with PNC. Don't get me wrong, the bank itself treats me well, but the employees at the branch I use seem to be more interested in play time than getting customers in and out in an efficient manner. Just saying.

Don't complain to banks is the lesson learned here. The fact this customer was arrested is absurd, or that the teller hit an emergency button. I won't bank with PNC if they were giving away a hundred bucks to open an account, and I had that opinion before this incident.

They neglect to tell us why the customer was so angry. I think it is because the bank was wrong (the customer is ALWAYS right, anyhow) and so are the arrest-happy cops. It is a wonder that the innocent customer was not tasered and/or shot! Once again, banks and the cops run roughshod over the people with total immunity.

I agree, especially the Pickled Nut Corporation, PNC.

ITwould be nice too know the whole story before posting it.It makes it appear SLANTED.Ive been in lines in banks, not pnc, and complained about excessive fees, treatment ,increased costs, hidden costs,no interest fee chargesetc.MOST people are already on pins and needles practically everywhere you go now adays. Its like a illness of fear.Ican see people on both sides of the counter getting upset and taking things out of meaning. With all the nuts that are loose its no wonder we are like we are.

The charge of "disorderly conduct" is one that allows cops to interpret behavior. It is a catch-all that is frequently abused by overzealous bullies in uniform. What constitutes "orderly" ? The cops get to decide, it seems.

You see that is what im talking about.MORE INFO.we werent there.we didnt see.we dont know.once again all we have too go on is what weve been allowed too be informed of.Whether through intention or the natural course of events. There is too much to speculate on.Until the investigation is complete and revealed, I have a hard time formulating a fair assement of the incident above and beyond what we already know.
