Alleged Drunk Driver Flips Car, Traps Passenger on Second Street
Donald Kellar, of Akron, was arrested on drunk driving and blood alcohol content charges on Tuesday night. His passenger was taken to Akron City Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
While speeding southbound on Second Street on Tuesday night, Donald Kellar, of Akron, lost control and flipped his car.
Kellar was able to crawl out of a smashed window of the overturned sedan, but his passenger -- who couldn't immediately be identified -- was trapped upside down, said Lt. Steve Lyons of the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department.
Police, fire and emergency medical crews rushed to the scene at 10 p.m. They pulled the passenger from the car and took him to Akron City Hospital.
Cuyahoga Falls Police Lt. Dale Gramley said the victim was responsive and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Kellar was arrested on drunk driving and blood alcohol content charges and released.
Second Street, from Front to Meriline, was cordoned off till about 11 p.m. while crews cleared the accident scene.
