Kim Stephen Slayko II, 33, of Cuyahoga Falls, an Army veteran who had served in Afghanistan, died Aug. 31, apparently from a gunshot wound to his chest in Akron.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St.
No services have been announced.

Our deepest sympathy to all the family. What fun we had with Kim and Kim Jr. on the fishing trips. Kim was a good kid and always looking for a new adventure.
It's just not natural for a parent to have to bury their child. We are so very sad for all of you. Try to stay strong and remember all the good times and fun memories.
